Building Ontology for Mashup Services based on Wikipedia - scientific work related to Wikipedia quality published in 2011, written by Kui Xiao and Bing Li.

Overview

Tagging as a useful way to organize online resources has attracted many attentions in the last few years. And many ontology building approaches are proposed using such tags. While tags usually associated with concepts in some databases, such as WordNet and online ontologies. However, these databases are stable, static and lack of consistence. In this paper, authors build an ontology for a collection of mashup services using their affiliated tags by referring to the entries of Wikipedia. Core tags are filtered out and mapped to the corresponding Wikipedia entries (i.e., URIs). An experiment is given as an illustration.
